Welcome to First Moravian Church.
We're Glad You're Here!
Candle Tea Marks the Start of the Christmas Season
Come and see Moravians prepare for the Christmas season at First Moravian Church's annual Candle Tea, Friday, December 5th from 2pm until 9pm and Saturday, December 6th from 10am to 3pm.
The event is free and open to the public.
Find yourself back in time and experience an old-fashioned, 18th century Moravian Christmas. Begin in our Sanctuary at 304 S. Elam Avenue in Greensboro where you will enjoy beautiful music and talks on Moravian history.
Experience fragrant beeswax candles being made in our Candle Hut, and then move on to the New Fellowship Hall where you will find our putz (a miniature Christmas scene), ladies trimming candles, Moravian stars, pottery, advent wreaths, chicken pies with gravy, gingerbread and other Moravian baked goods, crafts, artists and other special finds.
Our Tavern offers a moment from the past where you will enjoy a large fireplace, lively music, Moravian coffee, lemonade and delicious Moravian sugar cake at no charge. Enjoy the beauty of a live nativity and traditional Moravian Brass Band as well as a variety of seasonal music. Many say this Candle Tea is the beginning of the holiday season.
Please join us and make it a tradition for your family, too. For more information call 336-272-2196
